What drives one’s mind to go that extra mile, to think out-of-the-box, to engage in innovative pursuits. How do we collaborate intellectually, artistically or from a perspective of design, technology and culture? Sharing in the search for the edge, the next relevant thing or activity. There are many individual or collective avenues to constructively cross personal, interdisciplinary or technological borders. You will be exposed to some unique ones at the TEDxHamburgSalon.

Following TEDxHamburgSalon, the project presentation and award ceremony of 'Coding da Vinci Nord' will take place from 4:30-8:00 pm and you are invited to participate. Background of the project is the digital database of artifacts, such as paintings, book printing, photos, art objects as well as sound and video recordings which are hidden away in the archives of our museums, galleries and libraries. The 'Kultur-Hackathon Coding da Vinci Nord' brings this data into the light and makes them ascertainable. The aim is to create new formats, installations, apps, and websites to communicate and interpret the facts and information gathered from the archives of our culture within the relevance of our time.

Livestream of TEDWomen 2016: It's about time.

Here is what our friends in America say about their upcoming TEDWomen Conference:
"In planning for TEDWomen 2016, we asked our community: What matters to you now? And in emails and comments and even drawings from TEDxWomen organizers and our network of longtime attendees, one powerful theme emerged: time.

Time is personal. We all have the same amount of time — 24 hours a day and yet most of us feel we never have enough. Even with today’s latest inventions, technology, science, we can’t make time or stop time — or can we?

Come explore time zones, time travel, time outs and times together. We will explore the conventions and challenges of time.

We will ask the hard questions. Because isn't it about time:
To find long-term solutions to climate change, poverty, immigration, violence, race, gender and economic inequities?
To lead for different outcomes?
To challenge our "time-saving" technologies?
To pay full attention and be fully present for ourselves as well as others?"

A BIG THANK YOU to our friends at Smaato for hosting us!

PAST EVENT TEDxHamburg "Pause. Forward."

Sometimes it’s good to pause, and then move forward. To reconsider and then start afresh. To stop for a moment, switch off the auto-pilot, and embark on a new adventure. As people, we are always on the move and we try to live for the future, not the past. That requires us to break patterns, be open-minded and to sometimes change direction.

Our TEDxHamburg speakers do exactly that. They look at the present and see the future. They come up with ideas that are based on today’s experience and will change the way we live in the years to come. They forsee problems and try to solve them. They open up doors and set a new path. They imagine a future and then go out to make it real.

  • WHAT: TEDxHamburg "Pause. Forward."
  • WHEN: June 8th | 2 pm - 6.30 pm
  • WHERE: Laeiszhalle, Johannes-Brahms-Platz, 20355 Hamburg

TEDxHamburgSalon Topic: "Disruption"

At the TEDxHamburgSalon we dived into the topic of Disruption.

Innovation and disruption are similar in that they are both makers and builders. But true disruption literally uproots and changes how we think, behave, do business, learn and go about our day-to-day. Disruption displaces the existing and creates something completely new, more efficient, worthwhile and unique. As such, it is at once destructive and creative. Disruptors shake up their fields from top to bottom. Together with our speakers, we explored what is disruptive in our day and time in the fields of technology, society, science, art, entertainment and design.

  • WHAT: TEDxHamburgSalon "Disruption"
  • WHEN: February 25th | 5 pm - 6.30 pm
  • WHERE:  Apartimentum, Mittelweg 169, 20148 Hamburg
  • LANGUAGE: English
